Working at Height

Working at Height

In many sectors it is unavoidable that employees have to work at height.

Even if you are a sole trader and you work at height, such as an independent tradesman, it is a good idea to have a work at height insurance policy in place.

Working at height comes with many risks and this is why additional insurance is recommended. At JustQuoteMe we offer a range of different indemnity policies which cover various heights from set parameters such as up to 15 metres or more general policies such as those with an unlimited height restriction.

Our experienced insurance staff work with you to find the policy which suits your business and job requirements.

Just Quote Me provides cover for all aspects of working at height including:

  • Platform access
  • Rope access
  • Sling cradles
  • Scaffolding platforms

We can provide cover for any modern and risk assessed method of working at height, whatever suits your business and is essential for your works to be completed.

The Risks of Working at Height

The main hazards associated with working at height are falling and also objects falling and causing injury to people at ground level. These can occur due to an accident or distraction, or due to no fault of the worker or the equipment.

Legal Obligations

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 were put in place to encourage the avoidance of working above ground level wherever it is possible and practicable. They also state it is essential that the best practicable means of safety are provided when it cannot be avoided.

The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 also state that employers have a duty to ensure all areas where a fall from height is possible, must be guarded and properly covered.

Knowing your legal obligations as a business owner is one thing, you also need to make sure you have the right financial protection should the worst happen.
